About Sarah Hamilton
My path towards massage therapy started in my 20s, working in a physical therapy department and learning about injury and therapeutic methods for healing.
In my 30s and 40s I worked as a San Francisco Firefighter until suffering a catastrophic injury on the job that ended my career. I had blown a disk in my lower back, and had lost the ability to walk, sit or stand. Surgery resolved the mechanics of my spine— fusing vertebrae together that enabled me to walk two days following the procedure. Acupuncture, chiropractic, and other alternative healing therapies helped resolve the other aspects of my injury, helping to move energy that had long be stagnant and end lingering pain. After 5 years of the best of Eastern and Western medicine, I regained my full strength and fitness and was ready to move forward with my life.
I felt called back to massage therapy— this time with the profound first-hand knowledge of coming back from injury and experiencing how my body healed. I have a deep belief and respect for our body’s ability to heal itself, and see my role as enabling this natural process. Our bodies are amazing machines!
